Peppermint Mocha Latte

One of my favourite holiday drinks to order from a coffee shop is the peppermint mocha latte. It's the perfect mixture of chocolate and mint all mixed together bringing joy to your taste buds. The only issue is at about $5-6 a latte it adds up quick especially around the holidays when you're focused on purchasing gifts and groceries for that big holiday dinner or dinner party. Sometimes it isn't cost effective to go to the coffee shop everyday. This year I have decided to stop spending my money at the coffee shop and create my own peppermint mocha latte that tastes exactly the same if not better.

Earlier this year we decided to purchase a new espresso machine after years of not having one and it has been one of the best decisions we have made. There's no more waiting in long lines at the coffee shop and it gives us more time to spend together.

Our Peppermint Mocha Latte is Chocolatey, Creamy, Minty, Smooth and Delicious. We have chosen to use both cocoa powder and milk chocolate in our latte because while the cocoa powder adds the chocolate flavour, we wanted to deepen that flavour by adding milk chocolate (Of course if you prefer dark chocolate, feel free to swap the two. It'll taste just as delicious and have a deeper flavour). Our recipe calls for 1 tablespoon of peppermint extract; while this seems excessive, peppermint just happens to be one of my absolute favourite holiday flavours and we have given you the option to use anywhere from 1 teaspoon up to 1 tablespoon based on your preferences.

Once you prepare your peppermint chocolate syrup base for our peppermint mocha latte you can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. But believe us when we say it won't last that long if you're a peppermint lover like we are.
