Valentine's Day Heart Cake
With Valentine's Day just a few days away we present to you the perfect cake to make for your loved ones this Valentine's Day. The base of this cake is a moist and sturdy strawberry cake. We chose to take the extra step and bake the cake in an inch deep baking rectangular pan and then used a heart cookie cutter to get the shape we wanted. The most important part this cake is simple to make and only takes about 3 hours from beginning to end.
After you've iced the cake with your choice of icing we used a simple vanilla buttercream to compliment the strawberry cake. You're ready to decorate the cake, we used the exact same buttercream icing that we used between the layers and then took some melted chocolate and drizzled it down the edge of the cake and topped the cake off with a strawberry cut to look like a rose or flower.
- 1/2 cup Butter
- 1 cup White Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 1 1/2 Cups All Purpose Flour
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 Cup Milk
- 3-4 Drops Pink Gel Food Colouring
- 2 tsp Strawberry Extract
