BAKED MAPLE GLAZED HAM
A twist on my grandma’s baked ham with a huge punch of Canadian Maple! I received Ninutik Pure Organic Maple Syrup and Maple Sugar as a gift. They are probably the best maple products available in Canada . Ninutik is apparently very hard to find product that is usually sold in high end specialty shops, art galleries and duty free shop across the county. It comes with a huge price tag; 8 oz squeeze bottle sells for about $21.95 and a 1 cup box of maple sugar sells for about $24.95. This product is Canadian gold and this ham is to die for!
Ingredients
1 ~ 8 to 10 lb shank ham
½ cup pure maple syrup
½ cup maple sugar
1 – 2 tsp cornstarch
Directions
Preheat oven to 325F. Layout your bake ware, spray with non-stick spray and cut a large wide length of foil to cover and wrap the ham tightly.
Spread syrup and maple sugar on the bottom and lay ham inside the pan.
Brush with maple syrup.
Pack or sprinkle maple sugar all over ham.
Wrap tightly and bake for 1 hour.
Unwrap the ham and pour drippings into a sauce pan, add 1 to 2 tsps cornstarch and a teaspoon or so of water. This depends on home thick you like your glaze.
Cut slits throughout the top of the ham and brush coating well.
Put ham back in the oven, uncovered and baste every 15 mins or so for another hour; until it’s golden to perfection.
