Pumpkin Spice Seasoning

PUMPKIN SPICE SEASONING

Tis the season for all things Pumpkin Spice! I do enjoy it on occasion but since my son and creative partner is all about Pumpkin Spice lately, I cringed when he wanted me to buy a small bottle of PS which in my opinion cost a small fortune so I dabbled with my seasonings and created our own seasoning since we already had all the seasonings in the house.

INGREDIENTS

1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp ground nutmeg

1 tsp ground ginger

½ to ¾ tsp ground all spice

½ to ¾ tsp ground cloves

DIRECTIONS

I believe the trick to pumpkin spice seasoning is in the all spice and cloves we had to experiment getting the perfect balance of these two spices to get the correct scent.  Typically, spices and seasonings don’t go bad but depending on the age of them their flavour could be slightly off so I our case we used a full ¾ teaspoons of all spice and cloves to achieve the perfect balance and of course I didn’t have any ground cloves so I had to dig out the old mortar and pestle and ground them up myself. I would recommend starting with a ½ tsp of each and adjusting accordingly until the perfect scent is achieved.

We transferred them to a Mason jar and shock well to insure all the seasonings were blended well and ready to use for our next recipe.

Depending if your PS crazed you can double, triple or quadruple this recipe easily.

See; so simple and easy!
