Sipping Chocolate Recipe and Video

Drinking chocolate — true hot chocolate — is made from bar chocolate and contains cocoa butter, which results in a thicker, richer product than hot cocoa. It does not come in powder form or is frothed out of a machine. It is pure melted chocolate mixed with fresh whole milk, heavy cream and flavourings.  It is a rich, delicious and luxurious hot beverage that has its origins dating back to the Ancient Mayans and has a rich thick texture that of a runny pudding.

Recipe

1/4 cup heavy cream
3/4 cup milk
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
2 oz finely chopped dark chocolate (if you find dark chocolate too bitter, use a fine good quality high cocoa content milk chocolate)
Whipped Cream for Garnish (optional)
Chocolate Cinnamon Sugar Grinder (optional)

Instructions:

Heat the heavy cream, milk, cinnamon, vanilla and chocolate over low heat until the chocolate is fully melted and can be fully mixed.
Once the ready, place the sipping chocolate into tea cups and garnish with some whipped cream.
